What Zepto asks for
- No public image specification. Zepto onboards brands through a category team and they supply the current brief.
- White background pack shot with the product filling most of the tile.
- Pack size and variant readable at thumbnail size, because Zepto shows several sizes of the same product next to each other.
- Consistency across the range, since your SKUs appear side by side in one grid rather than on separate pages.
The Zepto-specific problem is the variant grid. Your 100g, 250g and 500g packs appear as three adjacent tiles, and so do your six flavours. A shopper is not comparing your product against a competitor at that moment. They are comparing your products against each other, and the only thing separating them in the frame is a number printed on the pack.
Which makes the camera angle a commercial decision rather than an aesthetic one. Whichever face of the pack carries the weight and the variant has to be the face pointing at the lens. That sounds too obvious to say out loud, and it gets missed constantly, because the face a brand instinctively wants to show is the one with the logo on it.
Range consistency is the second half of the same problem. Six flavours shot on different days, under different light, at slightly different distances read as six different brands sitting next to each other. One setup held constant across the whole range, with the packs measured to the same size in frame, is what makes a range look like a range.
Zepto is also, in practice, where a lot of smaller D2C brands land their first quick commerce listing, and often where their packs get shot properly for the first time. If that is you, take delivery of the raw frames. Blinkit and Instamart will ask for the same set within a few months and there is no reason to pay for that shoot twice.
We shoot Zepto ranges at our Thane studio on a courier-in basis, priced at Rs 500 to Rs 1,500 per image with volume rates for a full catalogue. The method is written up in how to take product photos for Zepto.
Selling on more than one marketplace?
