Why a brand image library is a different brief from a campaign
A campaign shoot is built around one idea with an end date. A brand image library is built to outlive any single campaign: packaging, the website, social, sales decks and future ads all draw from the same set for months or years, so a single inconsistent frame in the mix undermines everything shot alongside it.
The brief has to come from the brand's identity, not from a product spec sheet. Colour palette, mood, styling language and how a product is meant to feel in a customer's hand all come from the brand guide, which most product-focused shoots never reference at all.
Reusability is the other requirement a campaign shoot does not have to meet. Images need to work cropped, work in black and white, work small on a business card and large on a hoarding, because nobody can predict every place they will eventually be used.
