Cosmetic Product Photography
Beauty packaging is the hardest common surface to photograph well. Glass, gloss, frosted plastic and metallic caps all fight the light in different directions, and the shade has to survive the whole process.

Why beauty costs more to shoot than most categories
A serum bottle is a curved mirror. It reflects the studio, the lights, the ceiling and the photographer, and every one of those reflections has to be shaped deliberately rather than removed afterwards. Get it wrong and the retoucher spends longer on one bottle than the shoot took.
Frosted and matte finishes have the opposite problem. They swallow light and go flat, so the form disappears and a premium jar reads as cheap plastic on a phone screen.
Then there is shade. A foundation, a lipstick or a tinted serum has to match what arrives in the customer's hand. A shade that photographs half a step warm generates returns, and returns on beauty are expensive because the product cannot be resold.
How we shoot it
- Reflections are controlled with the light shape, not fixed in post. Large soft sources placed to give glass a clean edge rather than a scatter of hotspots.
- Shade is checked against the physical product under neutral light before the files leave, not judged on a monitor alone.
- Pumps, droppers and caps are shot in the state the buyer will see them. A dropper photographed mid-draw sells the texture better than a sealed bottle does.
- Texture shots for creams, balms and clays, which sell the product more reliably than another angle of the container.
- Retouching is included. Dust, fingerprints and the seam line on moulded plastic are cleaned as standard, not quoted as an extra.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about product photography
What does cosmetic product photography cost?
Marketplace listing images run Rs 150 to Rs 500 per image. Creative and lifestyle work for a website or campaign runs Rs 500 to Rs 2,500 per image. Beauty sits toward the upper half of both ranges because reflective packaging takes longer to light and longer to retouch. Send the range of products and we will quote properly.Get a custom quote here.
Do you shoot texture and swatches?
Yes. Cream, balm, clay and powder textures, plus swatches on skin where the product needs it. For colour cosmetics the swatch usually sells harder than the packaging shot.
How do you handle shade accuracy?
The shade is checked against the physical product under neutral light before delivery. We would rather hold a file back than ship a foundation that photographs a step warm and generates returns.
Do I need to send the product to you?
Yes. Brands courier products to the Thane studio and we send the files back. We do not run a pickup service, so the honest version is that you ship in from wherever you are and we work to a 5 to 7 day turnaround once the box lands.
