Why photo and video together is a different booking, not two bookings
Most brands that need both end up booking them separately, on different days, sometimes with different studios. That means restyling the same set twice, re-briefing a crew twice, and paying for setup time twice for work that could largely share one session.
The set, lighting and product prep for a still photo and a short video clip overlap heavily. A shoot planned for both from the start reuses the same lighting setup and styling for stills between video takes, which is where the actual saving comes from rather than a discount on the invoice.
The output also needs to be planned together. A hero still and a Reel from the same product should look like they came from the same shoot, not two different brand looks stitched together after the fact.
How we run a combined shoot
- One set, one lighting setup, used for both stills and video across the session, rather than two separate builds.
- Stills captured between video takes on the same product setup, which is where the time saving over two bookings comes from.
- Deliverables planned together: listing and ad stills, plus Reels, Shorts or ad video cutdowns, from the same shoot day.
- A single shot list covering both formats agreed before the day, so the crew is not deciding mid-shoot what still or clip to grab next.
